Brief History of Polish

Despite its name, this rabbit did not originate in Poland, but rather England and Germany. They have appeared in English literature since the 1860's. They were shown in England in 1884 and it is believed they may have been derived from wild rabbits. W.E. Dexter imported the breed into the United States in 1912. It was accepted as a breed in 1938.

Monna first presented the mini rex in 1986 at the ARBA Convention in Columbus, Ohio. They passed their first presentation. At the ARBA convention 1987 15 new varieties were presented. Finally in 1988 the breed passed its final presentation and several of the varieties which had passed their second presentation were permitted by the ARBA to bypass thier third presentation and the Mini Rex was born.
