Little Bunny Foo Foo

Many of us remember singing Little Bunny Foo Foo as a child. Despite Bunny Foo Foo’s bullying nature the song is actually sung in a rather light nature. It’s sung to the same tune as Down by the Railroad. Little Bunny Foo Foo goes through the forest hitting field mouse on the head. He gets warned by the good fairy to stop this practice, and his failure to do so would result in his being turned into a goon. Despite being given three chances, Little Bunny Foo Foo fails to listen to the good fairy and sure enough he gets turned into a goon. Other verses have been written to not only include Little Bunny Foo Foo’s adventures with field mice, but also such things as foxes and woodchucks. The origin and author of the song are unknown.

Lyrics

Little Bunny Foo Foo,
Hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin' 'em on the head

Down came the good fairy and she said

"Little Bunny Foo Foo,
I don't want to see you
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin' 'em on the head.
I'll give you three chances,
And if you don't behave
I'll turn you into a goon!"

The next day:

Little Bunny Foo Foo,
Hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin' 'em on the head

Down came the good fairy and she said

"Little Bunny Foo Foo,
I don't want to see you
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin' 'em on the head.
I'll give you two more chances,
And if you don't behave
I'll turn you into a goon!"

The next day:

Little Bunny Foo Foo,
Hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin' 'em on the head

Down came the good fairy and she said

"Little Bunny Foo Foo,
I don't want to see you
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin' 'em on the head.
I'll give you one more chance,
And if you don't behave
I'll turn you into a goon!"

The next day:

Little Bunny Foo Foo,
Hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin' 'em on the head

Down came the good fairy and she said

"Little Bunny Foo Foo,
I don't want to see you
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin' 'em on the head.
I gave you three chances
And you didn't behave
Now you're a goon! POOF!!"

The moral of the story is:
HARE TODAY, GOON TOMORROW
