I enjoy shows like “Kids Say the Darnedest Things”. Sometimes its things that get said, that embarrass us as parents. Sometimes its something they say and we just all laugh. Sometimes we just look at them and say, “where did that come from?”
We had one of those moments recently. It occurred at the Michigan State Fair. Our girls were in the showmanship contest. Taylor was asked the question, “What is the average temperature for a rabbit?” Not only do I personally not know what a rabbit’s body temperature is suppose to be, but I never would have thought of other temperature issues. Taylor’s response was in the form of a question, “Would that be rectal or environmental?” Taylor is 12. The judge got a strange look and then responded that he wanted rectal, and then she proceeded to give him the correct answer.
She came away from the table, and we asked her how it went. She said it went good. We asked about the questions, and she nonchalantly explained her question as if every person would have responded the same way. She probably learned this information while study for the rabbit and cavy expo. Thank you, Mary Taylor, Linda Pakulski and Kenda Pakulski for working with the kids for that event.
